Authorities have ended a search for nine people missing off southern California since Thursday when a Coast Guard plane and a Marine helicopter collided.

A Coast Guard plane collided with a Marine helicopter over the Pacific Ocean near Southern California on Thursday evening, officials said.

The Coast Guard says a Navy helicopter with five people aboard has crashed into the ocean 13 miles south of San Diego near the Coronado Islands.

At least one person is dead and four missing after a fishing boat sank off the New Jersey coast, the Coast Guard said.
