NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of New York Times Co. are up 8.38% to $12.16 on heavy trading volume after the company said it would cut jobs to lower costs and invest the savings in its "digital future" as advertisingarevenue from its print business dwindles, Reuters reports. The company did not specify which departments would be affected by the job cuts, but said it would exclude some critical areas such as digital technology and core products, Reuters added.
