Colorado’s culinary scene got another load of bragging rights when Flagstaff House’s chef de cuisine Chris Royster won during an episode of the television cooking competition “Chopped” on Food Network. The competition pits four chefs against each other to create three dishes made with a basket of mystery ingredients; one of them is crowned Chopped Champion. While you can’t really prepare for a competition in which you don’t know the ingredients you’re working with, Royster got ready by simulating the competition. “A couple weeks before I went to film the competition, we would do random mystery baskets every night with four or five ingredients and I would make four plates and everyone would taste and critique,” Royster said.
