Expert: Georgia election server showed signs of tampering

BOSTON – A computer security expert says he found that a forensic image of the election server central to a legal battle over the integrity of Georgia elections showed signs that the original server was hacked.

The server was left exposed to the open internet for at least six months, a problem the same expert discovered in August 2016.

Five people were reported injured, two of them critically, after a pickup truck drove into a McHenry Starbucks on Thursday evening, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

The crash occurred before 5 p.m. at 4305 W. Elm St., McHenry police said.

 

Cary driver pleads guilty to fatal DUI that killed McHenry teen

A Cary teen will serve probation and jail time for a drunken driving crash that killed a 16-year-old McHenry girl.

Caleb Rohrbach, 19, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Lake County to aggravated reckless driving and aggravated driving under the influence charges. He was sentenced to two years of probation, and 20 months of intermittent imprisonment.

The National Weather Service is urging people to take caution on the roads this weekend as more hazardous conditions, including cold, snowy weather, are in store for McHenry County and surrounding areas.

Todd Kluber, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said there could be precipitation beginning at about 2 p.m. on Friday, though it will probably be closer to around 4 p.m.

 

Senate passes US-Canada-Mexico trade deal, a Trump priority

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate overwhelmingly approved a new North American trade agreement Thursday that rewrites the rules of trade with Canada and Mexico and gives President Donald Trump a major policy win before senators turn their full attention to his impeachment trial.

The vote was 89-10.

The measure goes to Trump for his signature. It would replace the 25-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement, known as NAFTA, which tore down most trade barriers and triggered a surge in trade.

100 Joliet cannabis workers at Cresco Labs join union

Workers at the Cresco Labs cannabis cultivation center in Joliet have unionized.

The workers voted 58-32 on Tuesday to join Local 881 of the United Food and Commercial Workers.

A UFCW statement called the vote “precedent setting,” saying “Cresco workers are sending a message that the cannabis industry lives up to the promises it made to the communities when it lobbied for their support.”

Sheriff's office: 2 teens reported missing from McHenry County

Two McHenry County teens went missing on Tuesday, according to a message posted on Thursday on the McHenry County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.

Eva Buxton,16, and Colton Adeszko,16, both were last seen on Tuesday in the Johnsburg area. Adeszko's black 2006 Honda Civic, with an Illinois license plate of Z299962, also is missing.

 

Kindergarten Registration open for District 47

Parents can currently register their children for kindergarten in Crystal Lake District 47 schools online.

This can be done on the district's website at www.d47.org/kindergarten.

Those who want to register in person can do so at the Core Center at 300 Commerce Drive in Crystal Lake.

In person registration will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., 1 p.m.-2:45 p.m and 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
