WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump and Speaker Nancy Pelosi faced off Sunday ahead of his impeachment trial, as she said senators will “pay a price” for blocking new witnesses and he quickly retorted that she and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff should both testify.

The House plans to vote this week to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate for the historic trial on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over Trump’s actions toward Ukraine.

After snowy weekend storms, area sees calmer Sunday

The weather started clearing up Sunday after McHenry County and surrounding areas were hit with a winter storm on Friday and Saturday.

The most snow that was seen in the area during Saturday’s storm was 2.5 inches in Algonquin, Charles Mott, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said Sunday. The least was 1 inch in Woodstock.

Members of the McHenry High School Foundation Committee are accepting nominations for the McHenry High School Distinguished Graduate, a recognition of McHenry High School alumni who have excelled in career achievements, humanitarian work and community service, among other things.

To be considered for the award, nominees must be graduates of McHenry High School District 156 for at least 15 years.

Criteria used to determine who is a distinguished graduate include having a wide sphere of influence, making a positive effect

 

Huntley Police arrest man after online threat posted to bomb school

A homeless man was arrested after personnel at Huntley Community School District 158 told police about a bomb posted online.

On Facebook, the Huntley Police Department posted that district employees told them Friday about the social media post.
