Back on the job Friday, Lakemoor police officer Nicole Gaborek nonchalantly summed up how she spent much of December.

“All I had to do was agree to let someone take my kidney,” the 27-year-old said.

McHenry County College to offer cloud-based Quickbooks software training

The McHenry County College Workforce, Community and Business Program will offer QuickBooks Online accounting software training from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 13 through Feb. 17 at the MCC Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry.

The course is designed to cover the cloud-computing version of the program.

QuickBooks is a small-business accounting program that makes it easier to organize one’s finances. QuickBooks Online is a distinct product that has features that work differently than desktop versions.

 

GrubHub says it currently has no plans to sell business

Grubhub said there is no process in place to sell the company, a day after media reports said the company was exploring its options as competition in the food delivery business grows increasingly competitive.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that Grubhub Inc. – the second-largest player in the U.S.

Official: DNA test to determine if coyote bit Chicago child

CHICAGO – DNA tests to determine if a coyote captured on Chicago’s North Side is the same animal that attacked a 6-year-old boy will take weeks to complete, a city animal control official said Friday.

Jenny Schlueter of the Chicago Animal Care and Control said the coyote that was captured Thursday night will be held at a Chicago-area animal rehabilitation center until the tests are completed.

 

U.S. tried to take out another Iranian leader but failed

WASHINGTON – The U.S. military tried, but failed, to take out another senior Iranian commander on the same day that an American airstrike killed the Revolutionary Guard's top general, U.S. officials said Friday.

The officials said a military airstrike by special operations forces targeted Abdul Reza Shahlai, a high-ranking commander in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps but the mission was not successful.
