CHURCH HILL - Debbie Ball Presley, 58, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at her residence.
Debbie was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. She was a member of First Christian Church of Kingsport and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Church Hill. Debbie was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and daughter. Spending time with her family brought her so much joy; family was everything to her. She was a nurse at Indian Path Hospital for over 36 years. Loving and caring for others was her gift she shared with the world.
She was preceded in death by her father, Troy Dobbs.

KINGSPORT - Henry Crawford, 72, Kingsport, TN died Thursday (August 29, 2019) in Greene County, TN after a brief illness.
Arrangements will be announced by the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes.

CHURCH HILL - James “Jim” Collier, 76, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Henry Jonathon “Hank” Ferguson, infant son of Jon and Chessie Ferguson passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Franklin Woods Hospital, Johnson City.
The care of Henry Jonathon “Hank” Ferguson and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.

BLUFF CITY — Folks who wanted to lay bricks for a wall of the new Sullivan East Middle School Thursday afternoon got their chance, and they could take a tour of the school to boot.
The school is slated to open to students for the second semester of this school year’s classes beginning on Jan. 6, 2020.
When students arrive, they’ll be going to a school with a panoramic view of South Holston Mountain from the school’s front porch, called a “discovery porch,” as well as from many windows.

ROGERSVILLE - Susan Boehm Farrow, age 74, of Rogersville, TN passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Ballad Health Holston Valley Medical Center.
Visitation hours will be 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the funeral home chapel.  Graveside service will 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 2, 2019 at St. Andrews-on-the-Sound Episcopal Church Cemetery, Wilmington, NC.

PORT CLINTON, OH - Dewey Glen Matthews, 77 of Port Clinton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

MOUNT CARMEL - Glinda Marshall Hill, 68, Mount Carmel, TN passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Saturday, August 31, 2109 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00pm in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Riley Boy and Rev. Mike Ervin officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00am, Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Marshall Cemetery in the Castlewood Community of Scott County, VA.

KINGSPORT - Jean Hanz, 73, Kingsport, TN died Monday (August 26, 2019) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Arrangements will be announced by Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

GATE CITY, VA - Carl W. Newman, age 99 3/4, of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at his residence following  a period of declining health.
Graveside Services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Gordon McBride and Rev. Tony Nunley officiating.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 and Virginia National Guard.  For those wishing to attend, please meet at the cemetery at 11:50 AM. A Celebration of Life service is planned at a future date.
