Daniel Wayne Crabtree

Daniel Wayne Crabtree, age 31, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Danny owned and operated Cool Water Pressure Washing Company in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was born May 13, 1988 in Pennington Gap, VA. Danny was preceded in death by his Mamaw, Billie Jean Crabtree; uncle, Bobby (Locus) Crabtree.

 

Susan Boehm Farrow

ROGERSVILLE - Susan Boehm Farrow, age 74, of Rogersville, TN passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Ballad Health Holston Valley Medical Center.
She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Carson-Newman College. Mrs. Farrow was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Earl Farrow; parents, Paul John William and Lena Maye Horton Boehm.
She is survived by her sons, Jeshua David Farrow and wife, Kendra Farrow of Starkville, MS and Jonathan Daniel Farrow of Rogersville, TN.
Visitation hours will be 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

 

Remains identified as missing Kingsport man

Human remains located on Sunday in Scott County, Virginia are those of a Kingsport man missing for nearly five months.
According to Thursday afternoon statement from the Virginia State Police, the medical examiner's office identified the individual as Joshua McConnell, 22. The VSP says McConnell's death does not appear to be criminal in nature but an investigation remains ongoing.
The remains were found earlier this week near Wadlow Bridge.

 

This week's football picks: Panel split on Pioneers-Toppers

Kingsport's Foster honored with Quilt of Valor

 
Many war veterans return home broken in body or spirit. It can take years to put the pieces back together again. The Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF) recognizes the great sacrifices made by those who have fought for our freedom. Their mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
World War II veteran Richard ‘Dick’ Foster of Kingsport received such a quilt last spring.
“I was surprised! I thought it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen,” he said.

 

No bond for Hawkins man accused of abandoning nine dogs to starve

CHURCH HILL — A Hawkins County man accused of abandoning nine dogs to starve at a mobile home park near Church Hill will spend the Labor Day weekend in jail without bond.
On Wednesday morning the Hawkins County Sheriff's office served an arrest warrant for nine counts of aggravated animal cruelty on Benjamin James Reece, 35, 352 Payne Ridge Road, Lot 5, Church Hill.
The warrant was issued on Friday, Aug. 23, by HCSO Sgt. Stacy Vaughan after Second Chance Rescue founder Kendra Hall located eight starving dogs and one that was deceased at Reece's mobile home park.

 

Two charged with raping a minor in Kingsport

KINGSPORT – A pair of Kingsport men have been indicted for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old female in 2018.
According to a press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, they investigated the case with the Kingsport Police Department. Authorities allegedly discovered that on Feb. 24 of last year, Josiah T. Hilser, 20, and Carter C. Holt, 19, sexually assaulted the victim at a residence in Kingsport.
Last week, the Sullivan County Grand Jury returned indictments charging both Hilser and Holt in connection to the incident.

 

Glinda Marshall Hill

MOUNT CARMEL - Glinda Marshall Hill, 68, Mount Carmel, TN passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, TN.
Glinda was born in Wise County, VA on September 16, 1950, to the late Raymond Marshall and Helen Marshall Salyers. 
In addition to her parents, her husband, Dennis E. Hill preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Gregory A. Hill and wife, Bobbie Bevins-Hill, Mt.

 

James H. Wagner

KINGSPORT - James H. Wagner, 63, passed away suddenly on August 26, 2019.  He was born in Kingsport on January 28, 1956, where he was a lifelong resident.
He was a dedicated Alabama fan and had worked for TPI in Gray, TN for 16 years.
James is preceded in death by his mother Mary Wagner; sisters, Judy Wagner, Sue Baker, Phyllis Wagner-Carter, and Nancy Wagner; brothers, Don Wagner and Norman Wagner; niece, Patricia Grayson; and mother-in-law, Ann Moss.

 

Jean Hanz

KINGSPORT - Jean Hanz, 73, Kingsport, TN died Monday (August 26, 2019) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Arrangements will be announced by Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
