Bill to arm Connecticut judicial marshals watered down to a study

HARTFORD >> The Judiciary Committee watered down legislation Friday that would have allowed judicial marshals to carry firearms in courthouses and turned it into a study.The new language asks the Chief Court Administrator, who opposed arming judicial marshals, to study security procedures employed at courthouses and report back to the committee no later than January 1, 2018.

Police: Adult male shot in the leg in New Haven

NEW HAVEN >> New Haven police responded at 8:40 a.m. Monday to a report of gunfire on Vernon Street, between Congress and Davenport avenues.Witnesses told officers they saw a man limping after the gunshots were heard. Police were subsequently notified of a walk-in patient with a gunshot wound to the leg at Yale New Haven Hospital's Emergency Department, according to a press release.

 

3 residents, 1 firefighter hurt in fire at New Haven home

NEW HAVEN >> Authorities say four people, including a firefighter, were taken to the hospital after a house fire in New Haven.The fire was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.Four adults and one child escaped from the home, but three of them were taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
