Girls basketball: Battle Ground 49, Mossyrock 36

Brianna Adams scored 19 points and the Tigers put away Mossyrock with a 22-11 fourth quarter to win the non-league game on the road.
Faith Prom added 12 points and Mallory Meyer had 11.

Girls basketball: Prairie 81, Rogers-Puyallup 26

Cassidy Gardner scored 25 points, Brooke Walling added 18 and the Falcons used a smothering defense to easily win a non-league game at home.
Prairie (12-1) collected 22 steals against a team that entered Saturday 10-3.
“We played probably our best defensive game of the year,” Prairie coach Hala Corral said. “It was a fun game to watch and a fun game to coach.”
Prairie was effective from the perimeter as 14 of its 29 field goals were from 3-point range.

Two hurt in seven-car crash near Ridgefield

Two people were injured on Saturday after a seven-car accident on Interstate 5 near Milepost 12.

 

Boys basketball: King’s Way Christian 84, Stevenson 50

A strong middle two quarters helped lift the King’s Way Christian boys basketball team to an 84-50 Trico League victory over visiting Stevenson on Saturday.
Down by one entering the second quarter, King’s Way outscored the Bulldogs 44-22 over the next two quarters to pull away.
Khal Cason had 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Knights (8-6, 3-1), who pulled into a tie for second place in the league with Seton Catholic.
Bubba Cason had 14 points, Bryson Metz had 13, and Kobi Cason had 11 points for King’s Way.

Letter: Wall is doomed to failure

President Trump shutting down government over his wall is delusional. Walls don’t keep people out. People climb over walls, dig under them, go around them. They bribe the gatekeepers. Trump cited the Great Wall of China as the kind of wall he wants, but the Great Wall failed. It didn’t keep the barbarians out. The Berlin Wall failed. And Trump’s wall, if he ever gets it, will fail.
