CNN Axes Anchor Rick Sanchez After Anti-Jew & Anti-Jon Stewart Rant On The Radio

CNN today fired anchor Rick Sanchez a day after Sanchez assailed The Daily Show host Jon Stewart as a "bigot" and suggested that CNN and the other networks are run by Jews. Sanchez made his rant Thursday on the Sirius XM radio show "Stand Up! with Pete Dominick". CNN acted within 24 hours. "Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well," the Time Warner cable news channel said in a statement. Sanchez recently lost his afternoon show on CNN Rick's List, which is being replaced by CNN Newsroom. The Daily Show considered Sanchez an intellectual lightweight compared to CNN stars Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blizter and made him the butt of jokes, which Sanchez resented and thought was racist. (He's Hispanic.)

 

3 captains quit 'Deadliest Catch'

Sig Hansen and brothers Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand are leaving Discovery's hit reality series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Earlier in the week, it was reported that the network was suing the two brothers for $3 million for failing to complete work for a spin-off show called "Hillstranded."

 

Netflix Adds Saturday Night Live and Other NBC Shows

Netflix and NBC Universal have struck a deal to load the streaming video site with tons of content from both NBC and its family of cable networks, including all 35 seasons of Saturday Night Live, and new episodes of the sketch comedy show the day after air.Saturday Night Live just aired its season premiere last night, but were not seeing the episode on Netflix. Apparently the deal hasnt been executed just yet.The day-after premiere episodes will continue through 2012, but neither Netflix nor NBC specified how long the other content deals will last.

 

Jonathan Klein to Leave CNN

Jonathan Klein, the president of the beleaguered CNN/U.S. cable channel, is being replaced by Ken Jautz, the head of the sister channel HLN.

Funny man Stephen Colbert injected a little sarcasm into the congressional record Friday as he testified about farm labor and immigration.

"As we've heard this morning, America's farms are presently far too dependent on immigrant labor to pick our fruits and vegetables," Colbert said in his prepared remarks. "Now the obvious answer is for all of us to stop eating fruits and vegetables. And if you look at the recent obesity statistics, you'll see that many Americans have already started."
