The network is putting the finishing touches on a two-hour news show, expected to be announced in New York next Tuesday, that will defy the gauzy conventions of morning television. ... just 14 percent of those who consume news on tablets said they have paid for news content on their devices. Another 23 percent, though, pay for a print subscription that includes tablet content. So in all, about a third of tablet news consumers have paid to access news on their gadgets.

MSNBC announced Wednesday that it is making a major change to its lineup. Starting Monday, "The Ed Show" will be moved to the prime 8 PM slot. Lawrence O'Donnell's "The Last Word" will be moved to 10 PM, where it began before it was shifted to 8 PM following Keith Olbermann's departure from the network.

The press is an easy target since most such criticism rests on perceptions and feelings rather than concrete, or even academic studies. But on Monday, a report from the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism sought to quantify just how positive or negative the media's treatment of President Obama and the field of Republican presidential candidates has really been.

Unless it’s a tea party rally, Fox News and American protests don’t seem to mix well. Host Geraldo Rivera decided to go down to the Occupy Wall Street protests Sunday afternoon and ended up having an unpleasant experience. Protesters immediately surrounded Rivera and his network’s cameras and began shouting “Fox News Lies!” After a few minutes, Rivera decided to leave. His departure was cheered by protesters, who sang “Hey, hey, hey, goodbye!”
