The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus Opens on Christmas

After making its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and bowing in the UK in October, Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" will open for business in American theaters on December 25.

 

Green Hornet Pushed Back 5 Months

Seth Rogen's movie based on the pulp and television hero The Green Hornet has been moved from its original date of July 7, 2010 to its new date of December 17, 2010 according to Box Office Mojo . No reason for the move was given but one can presumes it's to give the movie more time for post-production--principal photography hasn't begun yet--and to get it away from Robert Rodriguez's Predators relaunch.

 

Shutter Island Pushed Back to February

Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Paramount Pictures has pushed back director Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island from October 2nd to February 19th.

Paramount might have "Transformers 3" penciled in for July of 2011, but if Michael Bay is to be believed, the studio will have to move forward on the third installment of the franchise without him -- his latest posting on his personal site says he needs a year away from giant robots.

Marvel delays 'Thor,' 'Avengers'

The superheroes will take just a little longer to arrive on the scene. Marvel Entertainment announced Thursday morning it was pushing back by a year a pair of key properties in its comic-book franchises, "Thor" and "Avengers." The pictures are moving from 2010 and 2011, respectively, to 2011 and 2012.

I've confirmed there's no director hired yet. And the two productions won't be back-to-back. But that hasn't stopped Summit Entertainment from newly scheduling its Twilight threequel for release on June 30, 2010, not long after its Twilight sequel New Moon set for November 20th this year now being helmed by Chris Weitz.

New Jersey's Courier-Post talked to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight executive producer Michael Uslan, who expects the third installment of the Christopher Nolan-directed films, starring Christian Bale, to hit theaters in 2011.
