Clambake to benefit Salvation Army set for Sept. 18

A clambake to benefit the Salvation Army Painesville Corps is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid-Chardon Road, Kirtland.Registration begins at 5:30.Tickets are $60/person or $100/couple.Proceeds from the event will support the many programs of the Salvation Army including daily emergency assistance, basketball leagues, programs for the elderly, backpacks for Back to School, and the distribution of toys and food at Christmas.

Mentor clambake to raise money for scholarships

Sept. 14 is the reservation deadline for a clambake set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19 at Mentor Beach Park, 7779 Lake Shore Blvd., Mentor-on-the-Lake. Hosted by the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce and Griffin Technology Group, its proceeds will help raise money for scholarships.

Riverside Schools to build memorial for veterans

Former Riverside High School students who served in the military will be honored in a special way.The district is raising funds to construct a Riverside Veterans Memorial that will be displayed at Riverside Stadium.The memorial will include a 20-foot brick wall with a digital display, a 35-foot flagpole for the American flag and five, 30-foot flagpoles for the United States military flags, said Riverside Campus Assistant Principal Rich Frimel.
