AdMob Reports on Mobile Web's Explosive Growth

Mobile ad firm AdMob has revealed the dramatic changes the mobile industry has seen in their second annual Mobile Metrics Report, released just this morning. Believe it or not, it was only a year ago that the Motorola RAZR scored as the number one phone here in the U.S. while the iPhone was the only touchscreen device to even make the list of top ten handsets. Only a year later, and so much has changed.

Most iPhone apps lose money, but some freebies — like Shotgun — rake in the cash. As an app, Shotgun Free doesn't do much. Give it a shake and it makes the sound of a shell being chambered. Great story from iPhone ad network provider AdWhirl. Apparently the developer of one of the most popular applications for the platform ever wasn't generating any ad revenue from it for several days, missing out on up to $2000 a day according to the company's co-founder Sam Yam.
